Although most of my paintings are figurative I love subjects that edge towards abstraction. 

Delhi’cious to my left is one of those subjects. I picked up a photo a friend showed me of her trip to India. The crowd merges with the colourful market stands somewhere in Delhi. 

Colours are rich and fascinating: if you observe more closely for instance, one of Cézanne’s painting you begin to discover that there is no such thing as a flat solid colour. How you assemble colours by playing on warm or cold tones is a subtle exercise. OIl painting allows you to come back and refine your balance of colours. However beauty is in the eye of the beholder: your perceptions and associations might be very different from mine.
